At last :)

Changes???

After careful consideration I have decided to do exactly what I planned to do in the very beginning.. It's funny to think about the whole procedure that went on in my head that now has led me to the same original plan!

The most interesting thing is that now I am more sure of it than ever and it is easier to justify my intuition :)

I'm very happy today!

Recovering!

First week of recovery is now officially over!

I'm tonsil free and in another week I'll be ready to take on the challenges the final project, of school, love, life and my future ;)

The Friday research group - Hanoi

During the stay in Hanoi we found a group of students who were also doing research in Vietnam. We were all doing different stuff but it was interesting to see what the others were doing! During this meeting the Ph.D student Joshua Herr, introduced his research on Chinese/Vietnamese boarders to the group.

Definitions :P

I knew it was necessary to actually write down my definitions for the research and that it was not enough to just have them in my head.

"An art café is a place where you can meet artists and whilst having a meal/drinks and enjoying art at the same time. An art café produces art activities, such as new exhibitions or performing arts at least every one-three months."

That's at least the definition I have been following so far.. However compared to the interviews I've now had there are not many art cafés in Hanoi that actually fit my definition..

Only a few of the ones I found fit the criteria.. I had an interview with Duc Nguyen an owner of an art café that currently is between housings and therefore hard to experience the atmosphere he described.

The other important definition I need to make for my research is more difficult. I have to define success. BUT I have found that trying to define success is not an easy task... Success is something that I imagine being different between art cafés, some might find it important to earn money while others find it more important to have customers engage in the activities or to have many exhibitions/performances. I need to make only one definition that will make the art cafés be successful or not, to fit a criteria for the research.. All of this makes me wonder if definitions of success will always stay the same for an organization or if they change compared to how and if they manage to reach their goals!

Yup.. I'm already feeling better and getting ready to start working again :)

Now setting up my final interviews and it looks like I'm gonna have a pretty busy week ahead but after two days of sleeping and laying in bed I'm really looking forward to it!

Setback..

I was bound to get food poisoning while traveling through Vietnam!! There won't be much studying done for the next couple of days! :(

However I had a good chat with my supervisor. Two days in a row so I know what to do next.. Already planning it in my head :)
